Korea Wins: Scroll down for my live blogging of the game.
The pinch hitter, who's name still hasn't been said on the air, hit a hard grounder right over second base. The Korean short stop made a diving snag on to get the force at 2nd base and the win for Korea.
Korea played a good game highlighted by good defense and pitching. They probably have more offense then they showed off in this game, and it's safe to expect them to put more runs on the board in the next games.
Chan Ho Park gets the save, and I think that Jae Seo gets the win. Park was pretty dominant as a reliever (even though he wasn't throwing against MLB guys), and some big league pitching coaches may look at moving him into a closing role at some point in the near future. Park has definetely had some hard times as a starter, and there is a shortage of quality closers in the game right now so this might be a good fit.
The game was entertaining, as I thought it would be. Good defense, especially in the middle infield (keep in mind that the Tokyo dome has a quick astro-turf infield) , non-selfish offense, and some timely extra base hits made the game.
I'm a little suprised that there were no homeruns, I've read that the Tokyo dome has pretty good air flow, and I figured a Korean power hitter would knock at least one.
I'm not going to be able to live blog the China Japan game that comes on later tonight, But I enjoyed living blogging as much of this game as I could. Now I'm going to bed. NOTE I messed up the Moveable Type clock, so the times of the posts are wrong. Sorry about that.
