Bad News for Baseball
This afternoon, terrible news began to break all around the baseball community. Within minutes, MLB players, managers, and fans began responding in a wide variety of emotions.
Atlanta Braves long time manager Bobby Cox could do nothing but hang his head and cry.

All-Star pitcher Kenny Rogers angrily lashed out at the camera man that broke the news.

Hall of Famer Nolan Ryan also reacted violently by pummelling Robin Ventura.

Managers Frank Robinson and Mike Socia were so upset that they had to be seperated by a group of umpires.

And former rookie of the year Lou Pinella could only respond by throwing one of his patented temper tantroms.

Some local residents in Mudville claimed that this was even worse than when Mighty Case struck out.

So what could send the whole Major League community into such an uproar? Did Bud Selig reinstate Pete Rose, resign and appoint Rose as his successor? Has beer been banned from all Major League ball parks? Have all the Major Leauge teams been sold to Middle Eastern investors?
No, no, no, and no. This broad emotional response was in response to a simple blog related press conference. Today at 2:30, on the steps of the Bancorpsouth Center, Rants and Cravings announced that it was cancelling it's plans to live blog over 50% of World Baseball Classic games due to an unforseen conference in Houston that the entire R&C staff is required to attend.
In a prepared statement, R%C editor-in-chief Gordon Fellows said that, "...we are terribly sorry that we will not be able to follow through on our plans to help bring non-televised WBC games to baseball fans everywhere. However, Rants and Cravings has been offered a unique opportunity to give back to our local community in North Mississippi, and we feel honored to be asked to help, and our compelled to do so."
But, with every dark cloud there is a silver lining. For Fellows it is this. "Although we will not be able to live blog any games in the first round, we hope to still be able to provide insight and commentary on first round games Asia, Latin America, and the U.S. Rants and Cravings will continue to strive to bring you the best post-game coverage on the net, along with commentary on some local Tex-Mex restraunts in Houston. How can anyone go wrong with that combination."
The ever-optimistic super star pitcher Kurt Schilling responded to the end of this press conference by affectionately embracing his former teammate Mark Grace.
To Schilling and thousands of other baseball fans everywhere, there is still a sparkle of joy in Mudville, for R&C is still going to be able to bat.
