Moderate Democrats triumphed at the polls last November, and they appear to be doing quite well in southern law schools as well.
Parker Wiseman was elected Law School Student Body President this week. The rising political dynamo from Starkville was unopposed. The 2002-2003 student body president at Mississippi State University, Wiseman has to have become the first person (or one of the very few people) to have been elected president of student government organizations at both schools. He replaces Jake Dickerson, who survived a "Impeach Jake Dickerson" facebook group and the distraction of a budding love affair to preside over a successful, fight-free Barrister's Ball.
No word yet on whether Wiseman plans to bring in his former Chief of Staff Jane Anna Harris, now working in Washington D.C., to take a similar position on his staff at Ole Miss.

As WillBardwell.com reported earlier this month, John G. Roberts has been invited to Vanderbilt Law Review. Not the new Chief Justice, but the clothes-conscious 2L known as Gabe. Gabe Roberts (Ole Miss '03, Vanderbilt '08) has written a spectacular piece about Sarbanes-Oxley, which may get published in the Law Review in the near future.
Khang Tran (UVA '03, UVA Law '07) recently won the Rosenbloom Award, an honor given to an academically strong student who shows generosity and assistance to other students. An illustration of his generosity came on Monday, weeks after winning on the award. I was call in Federal Courts for 25-30 minutes. I didn't ask for notes, but Khang sent his to anyway. People say Washington D.C. needs a greater spirit of cooperation, and they've got some good news. Khang is headed to a D.C. law firm next year.
Lindsey Smith (JA '02, MC '06, Ole Miss '09) was elected Secretary of the LSSB at Ole Miss. We'll be sure to forward this information over to Claudia Brocato so it can be included in the next JAAM (Jackson Academy Alumni Magazine).
Any other news or congrats I should be aware of, send it my way. drew at virginia dot edu.
