Readers old enough to remember watching the Jackson Generals (1991-1999) may also remember their General Manager, Bill Blackwell.
But once the Houston Astros' organization moved the team to Round Rock, Texas, the 15 remaining minor league fans in Jackson were left searching for another team to cheer, and Blackwell left Jackson to oversee other baseball franchises.
Blackwell recently reconnected to minor league baseball in the Metro area ... sort of.
Blackwell took a job in the Braves' farm system as Assistant General Manager of the Richmond Braves, Atlanta's AAA affiliate.
We're hoping the Braves will eventually move Blackwell over to Jackson and that Blackwell brings Daryle Ward, Scott Mackarevicz, and Roberto Petagine with him.
