East Rankin Football Coach Dan Boyce is jumping from the football arena to the political arena.
Boyce will be running for Rankin County, Miss., Justice Court Judge.
He's stepping down from his position as Athletic Director and Head Coach of the Pelahatchie-based school to seek the judgeship.
Boyce coached my junior high football team in 1994 and 1995, winning two South State championships while compiling a 14-2 record.
Boyce is running for Justice Court Judge, District 4, Rankin County. He is running against six Republicans in an Aug. 7 primary.
He's got the Network's endorsement and I hope my remaining Brandon readership will get to the polls that day and support Coach. He seems to have all the attributes you'd want in a judge. He's honest. He's fair. He's stern.
Besides, anyone who can win a state title with Brent Fletcher as a starting offensive lineman must be a true leader of people.
Just kidding about Fletcher. He was actually pretty good.
We'll have more about Boyce's race in the future. I'll try to get some testimonials from his former players.
