A few notable entrants into Mississippi elections in the 48 hours before tonight's 5 pm CST deadline.
• Jacob Ray (D), State Auditor -- Currently the spokesman for Jim Hood, Jacob Ray is a graduate of Cumberland Law School and Ole Miss, where he was a Sigma Nu pledge brother of State Senate hopeful Michael Watson and other non-office-seeking luminaries such as Van Gilbert, Corban Gunn, and Elliott Teague.
• John Windsor (D), Secretary of State -- From Corinth, Windsor seems poised to emerge from a Democratic primary to face either Jeffrey Rupp, Delbert Hosemann, or Mike Lott in the general election.
• Keith Ball (R), State Representative -- Ball graduated from Ole Miss law school in 2007. He's a Facebook friend of The Network and is vying for the seat that became up for grabs when Mike Lott decided to run for Secretary of State.
• Pete Rutland (R), State Senate 34 -- Nic Lott has a challenge in the Republican primary from Rutland, owner of a local stockyard.
• Jim Giles (I), State Rep 62 -- The controversial proprietor of RebelArmy.com won't be running for the Governor this year, but will focus on his rural Rankin County roots in a race against incumbent representative Tom Weathersby of Florence.
• Max Phillips (R), Ag Commissioner -- Phillips made it to the general election four years ago, only to lose to Lester Spell. Now Spell is a Republican, and Phillips will be expected to lose to Spell in the primary.
